Kiel University’s DenkRaum Fellowships promote six excellent young researchers from various disciplines for two years. In addition to their own research and teaching at the University, the Fellows join forces to address a theme of societal relevance.

The aim is to realise interdisciplinary projects within the overarching topic of Urban Design. The Shape and Shaping of Cities in the Past, Present and Future. These collaborations will transcend faculty boundaries and initiate joint projects with non-university actors. The DenkRaum Fellows not only explore various aspects of the theme, they also reflect upon their different scientific approaches. They seek active exchange with experts and representatives from the worlds of science, society, industry and politics. They raise questions, formulate impulses for new ways of thinking and develop projects that do justice to the complexity of the issues they identify, while considering the interests of all actors involved.

If you are interested please send your application via email by September 6, 2020 to at the latest, using the application form (pdf) provided.

Selection interviews are planned for October 26/27. The DenkRaum Fellows will begin their work in November 2020.
